Liz Thomas, who works at Cartref care home, has been presented with the ‘Inspirational Individual Award’ - sponsored by Nexon - at Shaw healthcare’s annual Shaw Star Awards.
The panel of judges selected six finalists for this category and, of all those shortlisted, they felt Liz had demonstrated on a daily basis her commitment to Shaw’s values of wellness, happiness and kindness and seeks opportunities to deliver an outstanding service.
Colleagues of Liz praised her organisational skills and her positivity when arranging activities for the 23 residents at the home, which provides care for older people, including those with dementia.
Ms Thomas said: “It’s an honour to have been recognised by my colleagues and peers at the Shaw Star Awards. It is so nice to feel appreciated and for people to recognise how much I care.
“Having transferred to Shaw in June, it has been great to join other Shaw staff members from across the company and feel part of the Shaw family”.
Cartref care home provides residential care for up to 23 people including those living with dementia.
Liz was recognised alongside other award winners as more than 200 people gathered at The Forest of Arden Hotel in Birmingham for Shaw healthcare’s annual awards ceremony, which aims to celebrate the achievements of outstanding staff members from amongst the 4,000 plus care workers across Shaw’s 80 UK facilities.
