Meet Elizabeth House’s very own hairdresser, Chris Cobden, who visits the home twice a week to cut the residents hair.

She has been a hairdresser for over 20 years and when she is not looking after the resident’s hair at Elizabeth House, she works as a local mobile hairdresser. Chris has always wanted to be a hairdresser and says it’s a lovely and enjoyable career but can be hard work.

Having been at the home since July 2019, Chris enjoys her visits and says Elizabeth House is one of the nicest homes she has been to.

Elizabeth House, located in Bognor Regis, accommodates for up to 60 residents and provides dementia residential and respite care at the home.

Her mum, who has now sadly passed away, spent a little time at Glebe House down the road, another Shaw healthcare service also situated in West Sussex, and she says that the homes are similar.

The salon at the home is very popular with the residents, some having their hair done every week when Chris comes in.

She says: “It’s really rewarding- the residents look and feel better. I have my own room so it’s lovely for the residents as they feel like they have been out of the home.Sometimes I have six people in at a time having their hair done which is really nice having them all in chatting together and it’s like a social event”.

Chris finds the job here at Elizabeth House really rewarding, especially with how much the residents and families really appreciate her service.
