Figbury Lodge recognised their 5 year anniversary with a Disney themed celebration. There was a photo booth and entertainment by Nick Sellers, he even embraced the fancy dress theme with a fetching little mermaid wig and green sparkly jacket!
Lots of staff who joined when Figbury opened also received their 5 year service.
Thank you to everyone who joined in with the celebrations it was a fantastic day.
Helma enjoyed afternoon tea with her family to celebrate her 100th birthday! A wonderful and very special time for her and her family.
Kelly Andrews and Ryan Swindells are this months Employee of the Month winners – both nominated by relatives at Figbury Lodge for the dedication they show to their family members.
Both staff members are very new to Figbury and have fitted in well with the team.
Well done to you both – very proud.
We enjoyed ploughman’s and cider at our most recent Resident and Relative evening held at Figbury Lodge, followed by a quiz. Fantastic evening with lots of laughs.

Armchair Volley Ball, Giant scrabble, Amethyst Choir, Travelling Theatre group, and to round the day off... Bailey hot chocolate with lovely German ginger biscuits!

Well done to both of you.
David and Lynne from Figbury took part in Walk for Dementia and despite the heavy rain, managed to raise over £1000!

Sheena came to visit and decided Becky need to have her face painted! Sheena regularly visits 2 of our residents Derek and Colleen and has been visiting us since she was 2 years old! During this time, we have seen her grow so much and her confidence has boosted, she now enters the room and skips around, hugging resident and playing games with them. Our true Figbury Butterfly Champion!
Joan and David Brett celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary. Many congratulations to both of them and thank you for sharing your special day with all of us at Figbury.
We have enjoyed various activities recently, a little bit of archery, a messy clay session and arts and crafts sessions. Lots of fun and laughter had.
We were a little busy in the home yesterday, so Peter kindly offered to help by posting lots of reviews for carehome.co.uk!

Last friday our Figbury Lodge family enjoyed an amazing circus themed garden party. It was colourful, fun and wacky. Everybody had such a good day, luckily for us the weather behaved. It was such a joy to see our residents, their families, friends and our wonderful team coming together as one big family. A special thanks to our super activities team for organising the whole day. Well done.

Figbury Lodge were honoured to be able to host a joint Wedding Anniversary party for two of our special ladies and their wonderful husbands.
Two very special Anniversaries, Sapphire and Diamond. Families and staff all joined in to celebrate this amazing day.
The staff dressed in blue and white to match the blue and white theme. We really did have a ball.

Our residents asked for more exercise activities when they completed their recent resident surveys. We started off with some beachball volley ball, this certainly did get everyone moving. The residents have been reviewing some external companies to help provide more physical, they have a couple in mind that they are hoping to trial over the next few weeks. #moveitorloseit
Residents at Figbury Lodge in Poole enjoyed finally getting out in the garden that they have worked so hard on getting ready for the summer.
Today at Figbury Lodge was challenge Friday. This week’s challenge was for our residents and teams to produce a music video to ABBA.
We had Reverend Penny Draper guest judge to confirm the winner of the ABBA challenge. The criteria for judgement was….
- Fun
- Resident engagement
- Use of prompts
- Overall effort
Our Lark unit won the challenge and have decided that they would like a smoothie maker as their prize! Well deserved! Well done 😊
It definitely feels like summer is on it's way. The sun always brings happiness. Just look at those happy faces!
Figbury Lodge residents have been having lots of fun recently...
It started with a school visit and our residents would like to say a huge thankyou to Canford Heath Junior School students, for inviting our residents to your school for afternoon tea. It was delicious. Next time you can visit us at Figbury Lodge!
We enjoyed some music and movement as we recognised Mental Health Awareness week this week. Chair exercises is a inclusive activity that anyone can benefit from. Not only is exercise good for physical health, but for mental health to!
The residents were all shook up when Elvis entered the building!
We have also enjoyed stimulating our brains this week. Puzzle afternoon is a very serious business at Figbury Lodge, as you can see the concentration on our residents faces.
African Day came around and we are lucky to have lots of wonderful new staff who come from all over Africa. The residents and staff wanted to make them feel welcome and wanted to learn more about their cultures. Residents were busy making decorations. Our new team members showed us on a map where they were from, they told us about the foods, traditions and clothes they wear. The best they saved for last, by preforming a gospel choir song, it was absolutely beautiful. Thankyou!
Coronation celebrations didnt go amiss... our residents celebrated in style for our Kings Coronation, with an indoor cinema, traditional cream tea and fantastic Kelly singing wonderful classic songs. Perfect!
Exercise is so important for physical and emotional well being. Our residents enjoy regularly exercises that are adapted to fit each ability.
As you can see this activity really releases those endorphins. The smiles say it all.
At Figbury we like to have a least one themed party per month. Last month it was St Partick's Day.
A themed day is about our residents being able to prepare and contribute to the day, its a joint effort with staff. It was all hands on deck to get the room decorated with hand made decorations, to set the scene for our Irish banquet. Well done ladies and gents!
Wonderful staff celebration yesterday at Figbury Lodge in Poole. We welcomed the new Manager and thanked the staff for their dedication and commitment to the service. A town councillor and the Mayor of Poole attended along with the CEO of Shaw. Families joined residents as everyone congratulated the team. We also celebrated our Employee of the month, well done Chloe! Finally we celebrated our staff champions, who go over and above in their role to support amazing care in the home.
Figbury Lodge celebrated St Patrick's Day, with an Irish themed lunch. All residents enjoyed a traditional Irish stew and rhubarb tart with custard, all washed down with Guinness and Irish Cream! (yum). The scene was set with Irish music, decorations were made by our residents during arts and crafts sessions this week. We even attempted a bit of Irish dancing.
Figbury units were set a task to create a Christmas theme out of recycled goods. Leyla Ari, PRP for the region was the judge.
1st place was the Wreath made by residents and staff on Lark unit, from recycled packages
2nd place was Dove unit
All of the entries were excellent!
Residents at Figbury Lodge have been feeling festive recently. Peter and Dianne took a stroll to a local primary school to watch their nativity play, we made some melted snowmen out of biscuits and marshmallows and to finish off we had a bit of music fun.
A lovely service at Figbury today, thank you St George Church for you lovely Carol service. We also made some pizzas and had an impromptu competition, the winner was Robert on Wren Unit!
Residents loved the visit today from Caring Canines! We also made some chocolate fudge, not a single morsel left to try, but everyone enjoyed themselves.
Derek has a litte visitor who comes to see her Great Nan lots of times each week. She seeks Derek out and we often find them sitting doing homework, where Sheena is reading to him. She often brings him gifts too. Sheena, this time Derek has been busy making you a little something!
Residents at Figbury Lodge enjoyed exercising and using chiffon scarves. Lots of fun and everyone tried so hard.
The healthcare provider behind Canford Heath’s new state of the art care home is on the lookout for creative minds, after launching a poetry competition to inspire the creation of original art.
A new dedicated care home for specialist nursing and dementia in Poole has been officially handed over by the contractors to BCP Council and Shaw healthcare.
Community engagement is important to us at Shaw so we were delighted to be asked to sponsor the Canford Music Festival in May.
