Care workers across the UK have been recognised for their outstanding contribution during the past year after being nominated for the annual Shaw Star Awards 2022.
The 13th Shaw healthcare national awards ceremony is being held this year at The Tortworth Court Hotel in Gloucestershire in November and will be hosted by Paul Sinha, best known for his regular appearances on ITV’s ‘The Chase’.
The award categories include ‘Care and Compassion’, ‘Shining Star’, ‘Resident/Relative’, ‘Outstanding Management Contribution’, ‘Service Support’, ‘Wellness/Happiness/Kindness’, ‘Culinary Star’ and ‘Carehome.co.uk’ – the winner of which is the care home with the highest rating on the website, prior to the ceremony.
The region with the highest number of nominations is West Sussex in England – with five – closely followed by Powys in Wales, with four. Care workers in the West of England have also been rewarded for their dedication over the past year, with three nominations in both Bristol and Ledbury in Herefordshire.
Shaw healthcare’s chief executive Russell Brown, who took over from Jeremy Nixey last November, said: “The 13th Shaw healthcare national awards ceremony will be a wonderful opportunity for employees across the UK to come together to celebrate what has become such an important event in the Shaw calendar.
“Our hardworking and dedicated staff have shown immense resilience during incredibly testing times for our sector. Their determination to deliver compassionate, high-quality care for all our residents has been awe-inspiring to witness over the past year.
“We’ve got an excellent number of high-calibre finalists at this year’s awards ceremony, so it’s going to be particularly difficult to pick our winners. Congratulations to all our nominees and good luck.”
The awards aim to celebrate the achievements of outstanding staff members across Shaw’s 61 UK facilities, with all winners nominated by colleagues and selected by a panel of Shaw healthcare’s executive team.
