Residents at a care home in Llanidloes were delighted with the unveiling of a new garden mural, painted by local artist Sue Brunt.

The seasonal, River Servern-themed piece, which took a month to complete, has taken pride and place at Maes y Wennol care home.

Ms Brunt, volunteered to paint the mural after the home received a £200 donation from the Co-Op Community Fund scheme.

While the current pandemic meant the home couldn’t have an official unveiling, 101-year-old resident Nance Griffiths proudly took to the stand to declare it complete.

Sandra Holt, manager of the care home, said: “This wonderful scene has really brightened up the garden where many of the residents love to spend time.  It was lovely to see the smiles on their faces when they saw it.

“We know this continues to be a difficult time for everyone and residents are missing out on spending time with their relatives, so we are working hard with various activities to keep the residents happy. We would really like to express our thanks and appreciation to the Co-Op for making this particular project happen’.
