A specialist acquired brain injury care centre in Ledbury has been identified as an ‘Approved Provider’ for the second year running.

The accreditation comes from national charity Headway following a remote compliance assessment.

The scheme, ‘Approved Provider’, highlights care services that demonstrate a provision of appropriate specialist care for those with complex, physical and cognitive impairment due to acquired brain injury.

Market Lodge, which provides short and long-stay services for people with acquired brain injuries, has been praised for providing a high standard of care in spite of the challenges faced by COVID-19. The charity assessed areas such as culture, governance and communication, will all ranking even higher than in the 2019 inspection.

“This accreditation not only confirms the high level of care I already know our staff offer at all times, but also highlights the knowledge they have about the purpose and function of the unit.

“Many of our service users at Market Lodge come from the local area, but we have supported people with acquired brain injuries from across the country, whatever their needs, and by having this ongoing accreditation we hope to help an even larger number of people in their time of need.”

Shaw healthcare provides a spectrum of services from comprehensive care packages through to low level support in the community for older people and adults with physical, sensory or mental health support needs.
