Phil started at Shaw in February 2021 as a support worker providing care and support to patients at the intermediate care unit in Ledbury.

He was on shift with the ambulance service dropping a patient when he got talking to some staff about how he wanted to change jobs and he was asked to come back on the Monday morning to speak to the manager. He was told what a great place it was to work at and how the team all get on really well and support each other.

The best part about his role he says is improving a patient’s day and making them smile.

Phil has completed multiple courses via eLearning and is looking to complete his Level 3 NVQ.

He says: “I already knew some staff here from my time with the ambulance service and knew it was a place I would enjoy working – everyone is no nice and friendly. I have been supported massively here at Ledbury, not only on a professional level but personally too.  Any training I have asked to do it has been arranged for me.”

Phil’s aim is to eventually work in mental health and will be supported by Shaw to achieve his dream.
