Firefighters from Llandrindod Wells Fire Station sang happy birthday outside the care home in Powys to mark the 80th birthday of resident and former firefighter, Mike Jones.
Mike, who retired from the brigade 25 years ago on his 55th Birthday, stood proud throughout the performance and was absolutely delighted to see the firefighters, including a couple of the crew who he actually served with during his latter days with the service.
Due to current restrictions under coronavirus lockdown, residents are unable to have visitors in the home and Mike’s wife, Cathy, has not been able to visit for 6 weeks.
Manager of the home, Lowri Owen, said, ‘We know this isn’t the birthday Mike or his family had planned but we wanted to do something special to mark the occasion. This visit made his day and we would like to thank everyone at the fire service for taking the time to make it happen.’
