Residents at Maes-y-Wennol enjoyed a Halloween party on Wednesday. They enjoyed Halloween themed party games followed by a spooktacular buffet and refreshments.

World Menopause Day was last week and Maes-y-Wennol created this lovely display for it. It created good morale and conversations between staff and visitors to the home.
Yesterday, the residents at Maes-y-wennol enjoyed a visit from the Animal man (Corner Exotics).
All the residents had the opportunity to touch and hold a variety of exotic animals as well as being educated about them.

Maes-y-Wennol residents enjoyed seeing musical entertainer John Hughes the singing farmer! Babs also turned 95 yesterday and this is the beautiful cake the chefs made for her.
Residents from Maes-y-Wennol enjoyed singing and having a dance to musical entertainer Mansel Davies last week.
Maes Y Wennol community fete was a great success, we raised a whooping £338.28 in donations towards the home. At the community fete we had lots of stalls, a big raffle, 3 musical acts, ice cream van & tea, coffee and cakes.
Some residents from Maes-y-Wennol attended the weekly social morning held in the local Rugby club, this week we got to see the Tenovous Cancer Care choir perform.
Residents at Maes Y Wennol enjoyed playing Boccia out in the garden, we also enjoyed a Mr Whippy yesterday from the ice cream van. We all love making the most out of the sunshine.
Busy day at Maes Y Wennol, we made fridge magnets and had a sing a long session with musical instruments in the afternoon.
Residents took part in the Maes-y-Wennol mini Olympic Games. This consisted of Boccia, Bean bag Toss, pencil javelin toss, basketball, qouits & balloon tennis.
Residents at Maes y Wennol enjoyed a little walk to the millennium garden in Llanidloes, to enjoy the beautiful sunny weather and an ice lolly. We also made summer paper fans in our Arts and crafts session.
Residents at Maes-y-Wennol got to see Llanidloes carnival parade last Saturday. The marching band even turned and gave the residents a special song. We are very lucky to have such a vibrant little community.
Residents at Maes-y-Wennol braved the weather and took a trip to see the seaside at Aberystwyth. During the day we had lunch at Afro lounge, visited the arcades, saw the sea, had a chance to look around the shops and had an ice-cream. It was a lovely day out.
Residents celebrated summer by having lots of lovely picnic party food, summer festive drinks, decorations and a summer time music playlist. It was lovely to see different residents from different parts of the home socializing and having fun together at our Summer party.

We have potatoes, broad beans, carrots, parsnips, beetroot, sweet peas, onions, rhubarb, tomatoes and lots more.
Residents enjoyed planting pink, blue & white lobelia into flower pots previously painted by other residents. We are now all enjoying the added colour they have added to the front of Maes y Wennol.
Resident’s celebrated the 80th anniversary of D day by making crafts to add to our D day display, we also had a entertainer John Hughes (the singing farmer) who sang a range of war time songs.
Residents at Maes y Wennol celebrated National Biscuit Day by decorating biscuits this morning, they then played the McVities biscuit quiz in the afternoon! Thankyou Mcvities for sending us a wonderful quiz box.
Residents enjoyed making edible Easter nests, taking part in an Easter egg hunt and having an Easter themed party!
Residents enjoyed a Best of Broadway show by Tickled Pink Productions, that included lots of singing, costume changes and amazing tap dancing.
School children singing for St David's day, our residents loved listening to them. Some of our residents also enjoyed teaching members of the team to knit!
To finish off the week, we had a cup of tea out and listened to Mansel Davies's lovely songs.
It was bring your pet to work day at Maes-y-wennol! Residents loved petting and giving all the animals a hug.
Former actress of TV and Theatre, Jamila Massey, who lives at Maes y Wennol had a lovely visit from friend and Coronation Street star, Shelley King (who is currently playing Yasmeen Nazir) on the weekend.
The actresses both stared in the 2004 play ‘Calcutta Kosher’ written by Shelley.
We had our Christmas party last week and we shared it with the day centre users aswell. Children from the local nursery came and sang carols, and we played some games. Buffet provided by gosia and her team, we also enjoyed some Thai food prepared by our Thai employee Suthin.
Yesterday we recognised and thanked our long serving employees at Maes y Wennol in Powys. A combined total of 205 years service was celebrated and we were also delighted to welcome Cllr Gareth Morgan to join us who opened the home in 1990.
All the staff dressed up for National Elf Day, Scarlet organised this, we have a sweep stake running and the proceeds will be donated to charity. Residents also enjoyed a visit from Santa!
Our lovely resident celebrated their 85th birthday and we also had musical entertainment by Tony Hughes.
Maes y Wennol residents enjoyed a presentation on Italy, 360 degree tours of Rome, Venice and Florence.
We enjoyed Italy cuisine including lasagne, pizza and tiramisu. We also learnt to speak basic Italian and did Italy related colouring and word searches.
We raised £54.05 for Children In Need by doing crazy hair and a raffle that was kindly donated to the home.
Singer Mansel Davies came in to entertain residents, it was a great afternoon of music. Frances celebrated her birthday and everyone enjoyed watching the beautiful fireworks on Bonfire Night.
Halloween fun today at Maes-y-wennol. Cupcake decorating, 'wrap the mummy', Halloween puzzles and colouring!

Lots of musical entertainment lately here at Maes-y-Wennol, including Tony Hughes and Mansel Davies. All of the residents had a brilliant time.
Well done to Frances for winning the poetry competition! We also enjoyed a meal out at the local pub and a ice cream sat down by the river for dessert.
Some of our residents had the opportunity to be part of the carnival and join the parade. Our theme was Maes y Wennol the next generation. They also enjoyed a drink in the pub afterwards.
On Wednesday at Maes y wennol it was bring your pet to work day, we had several dogs to visit, a cat, a Guinnie pig, a rabbit and even some little chick's.
Some Maes-y-Wennol residents enjoyed a lovely refreshing trip to the seaside. We all enjoyed our icecreams!
We have got up to lots of fun recently at Meas-y-Wennol! Bowls, dominoes and visiting our local art Gallery, the minerva.
A fantastic yummy cake for one of our residents. Our birthday lady Claire enjoyed this Victoria sponge when her family came to visit her on her special day. Claire's daughter lives 500 miles away, so this day was extra special. We did a picnic for them in our fabulous garden followed with yummy birthday cake.
Maes-y-Wennol had some special visitors today, “Emmas donkeys”, we also had a film crew here filming for Coast and Country ITV wales, the programme will air on Friday 7th July at 7pm.
We celebrated both Margaret William's and Ron Mantle's birthdays this week. Margaret is 80 and Ron is 87! Happy birthday both.
We've had a busy week this week at Maes-y-Wennol. We had a nursery visit from some very cute toddlers and babies. We also enjoyed Pancake Day by making some pancakes with some yummy toppings! We got busy plating some sunflowers and to finish off, Mancel Davies entertained us with his music.
Residents at Maes-y-Wennol were busy this Valentine's day! We made cards and chocolate fudge to go to our loved ones, and we got creative decorating Valentine's biscuits.
Maes-y-Wennol residents celebrated international feed the birds day on Friday by making bird feeders.
Residents learnt about the story of Burns night, designed a Scotsman and kilt and listened to poems and music made my Robert Burns.
Today we had bring your pet to work day at Maes-y-wennol, the residents had a chance to meet and fuss 5 different dogs, a guinea pig named cookie and a rather big lamb! This was an awesome event loved by all.
Residents and employees went to a lovely garden centre in Welshpool last Wednesday, they saw the Christmas displays and went shopping in the various departments, they also had lunch. All enjoyed very much.
Employees at Maes-Y-Wennol took part in Elf Day last week to raise awareness for Alzheimer's disease.
Thai dancers came to entertain our residents today! It was great fun and everyone loved getting involved.

Residents at the home were delighted with the unveiling of a new garden mural, painted by local artist Sue Brunt.
The whole community at Maes y wennol care home paused recently to recognise a remarkable milestone, as resident Nancy Marion Griffiths celebrated her 101st birthday.
