Elizabeth House
A big thank you to everybody that contributed towards our raffle and to all of the local shops. It was a very popular raffle with lots of prizes raising over £600 towards resident Christmas presents and trips out!
Trip out to the Teapot Café, we stopped to have a little look at the duck's and swans. We always feel very welcome at the cafe, enjoying a good chat with tea and cake.
Thank you so much to the relative who donated knitting and needles and spending time to cast on so our residents can really enjoy knit and natter.
We said Goodbye to Pat, top floor Team Leader at Elizabeth House. We want to wish Pat good luck in her new role as Deputy Manager at Rotherlea. Pat will be greatly missed by all!
Our Employee of the Month for September goes to our lovely Debbie.
Thank you Debbie from all staff and residents for your hard work and dedication within your role. Debbie has worked in her role for over 35 years and continuously shows her commitment. Enjoy your gifts! :)
Our lovely relative John came to pick up his wife today... Let's just say she zoomed off in style! What a beautiful car.
Nick was in for skittles recently. There was lots of laughing and joking during the friendly game, Martin was particularly happy with his win!

Betsy came over for some kisses and cuddles, Neil Diamond got us all up singing and dancing & we all enjoyed the glorious weather with a spot of gardening.
A relative requested funds raised for her father's funeral was donated to Elizabeth House for a bench to be purchased in his memory. We followed Dee's wishes through and purchased a bench she had chosen and attached a plaque brought in by herself. Staff can enjoy sitting in this bench remembering the funny, bubbly character that he was. Our Mr Jones.
We celebrated our Long Service Awards yesterday at Elizabeth House. Employees were presented with gifts and certificates by Deputy Mayor, Cllr Gill Yeates, with two employees celebrating their 35th anniversary working in care.
Other guests included Rev Janet Hopewell, former Mayor, Phill Woodall and consort, Steve Hearn.
There was also a prize giving presentation as we celebrated being runner up in the Employee Owned Day Banner competition.
Thank you to all that came and celebrated with us.

We had the amazing Rock Choir join us to sing to the residents this afternoon. Dani from admin is a member of the choir and you can see her singing at the back in the top right picture. A wonderful experience for all involved.

One of our Resident Ernest who celebrated his 100th Birthday yesterday said ' the day before DDay he saw 100s and 100s of tents and soldiers on Southsea Common preparing to go out to Dunkirk, the next day they were all gone!'
Sadly, a short while afterwards Ernest witnessed the return of the fallen comrads from the beaches and refers to them as the 'Souls' returning home.
Ernest was stationed at Portsdown Hill, Portsmouth and was a despatch rider along the south coast for the commander in Chief. Ernest was 17 when he joined the navy.
The residents at Elizabeth House celebrated National Biscuit Day! In which McVities kindly gifted a box of biscuits for our residents to enjoy, followed by a fun and interesting quiz full of facts on biscuits.

Residents at Elizabeth House enjoyed a trip to Dale’s Farm. We had a picnic lunch after spending time with some lovely animals, they were so friendly!
Went out today to the dementia, friendly teapot cafe at Saint Ninians! They are always very welcoming.
Afterwards, we had a relaxing afternoon in the lovely sunshine, enjoying a cup of tea watching the airplanes at Goodwood.
Residents have also made hanging baskets for the front of house, lots of laughs had.

Trip out to the Portsmouth Museum Memorabilia, all about Sherlock Holmes! The group were discussing his films and said that they’d really enjoyed the museum. We then stopped off for fish, stroke, scampi and chips with a lovely crumble.
Residents enjoyed a trip out to Haskins Garden Centre, we had cakes and tea and good conversation! Afterwards we had a lovely walk around, looking at all the lovely plants and stopping off for an ice cream on the way back.
Residents took a little walk up the road to coffee plus, afterwards we enjoyed spending some time with the Betsy.
Residents enjoyed a morning of chair exercises and then a singalong to end a friendly competition of the beanbag target game!
We also enjoyed a walk around Hotham Park with a cup of tea and cake. We saw the first sign of sun flowers coming out, definitely time for ice cream. Very much enjoyed.
We have enjoyed a nice afternoon of arts and crafts, Easter cakes and a game of darts.
You can’t help but smile when you see our jungle theme and tactile elephant!
We have also had a lovely Easter surprise from Rounce Funeral Services with a card showing recognition of our fantastic staff who show hard work, and dedication each and everyday. Thank you Chris, the staff will thoroughly enjoy the treats. Happy Easter from all at Elizabeth House.

Gwendoline (also known as Tonky) had her 107th birthday at Elizabeth House! She received a card from King Charles which she was utterly thrilled about! Happy birthday Tonky!
We went out for lunch! Fish & chips followed by a berry crumble. We shared lots of good conversation and a drive along the sea front looking at where the hovercraft comes in and overlooking the pond with the swans.

One of our residents Martin got a new eletcric wheelchair, he gave it a test go out in the street before going out for lunch with his friend Ollie.
A lovely surprise for the residents at Elizabeth house today, when the alpacas came in! We loved stroking them and seeing their funny little characters.

Residents enjoyed a trip out last week. We enjoyed a picnic lunch overlooking Pagham Harbour and then on to the British Legion pub.

Residents worked together to create this wonderful large poppy for Remembrance Day. We enjoyed colouring in and painting poppy pictures, some of the residents enjoyed seeing how many words they can find in the sentence!

We also had a trip out to Amberley Museum, residents enjoyed going on the bus and the train looking at all the memorabilia. Afterwards we had a picnic and ice cream. There were lots of interesting conversations about the old buses and fire engines.

Maureen & Trish enjoyed a portion of chips & a cup of tea over looking the seafront at The Beach Hut. The staff at The Beach Hut were so friendly & helpful.
Kevin & Clive from Regis Rhythms kindly came in to entertain residents. There was lots of singing along to old time favourites, clapping along, foot tapping & of course a bit of dancing.

Elizabeth House held a fantastic Coffee Morning event where we rasied funds for Breast Cancer Now. We raised a fabulous £258.40 and the whole team should be so proud, thanks to everybody who donated!

July Employee of the Month goes to... Rachael Dorey!
Rachael has made a massive impact since joining Elizabeth House. Residents are thoroughly enjoying her homemade meals. Rachael is very organized and very conscientious of the residents needs.
Enjoying the sounds of the guitar. Lots of singing and some unusual dance all good fun. Our ladies get together for knitt and natter which always makes for a good morning! Today a lovely relative brought in some ice pops for all the staff to enjoy! Thank you very much to CJ daughter.

We had a lovely visit from Betsy on the weekend, lots of cuddles for the residents which everyone loved.
Lots of fun and laughter had today with a gentle chair exercise, we had all the old tunes on which resulted in a singalong. Residents also enjoyed a tactile, sensory activity with our robot cat and dog. We had a lovely visit from Betsy, lots of tricks, cuddles and strokes and occasional licks!
We've been having some fun in the sun recently at Elizabeth House. Jillian made the most of the sunny weather and the men enjoyed men's club in the sun with cold drinks and snacks.
We all enjoyed skittles with Nick. We are all also pleased that Knit and Natter group has started again!

Nice weather for a walk round the Mewsbrook Park. We enjoyed a picnic, and looking at the ducks. We then stopped off at the English martyrs Catholic Church to look at the amazing ceiling and listen to a talk. We finished off the day with an ice cream and a spot of gardening!

Day trip to Staunton farm. The animals are so friendly their residence enjoyed feeding them. And then stopped off overlooking the harbour for ice cream. Great day out.
The residents at Elizabeth house had an amazing day out to Bosham church and made full advantage of the wonderful weather and enjoyed an ice cream. One of our residents Freda met up with the vicar who she knew from many years ago and it was a joy to see her catching up with him remembering the old times. We also stopped at the Goodwood racing track and drove around the countryside soaking up the views. Fantastic day out for all!
This week is Mental health awareness week. West Dean gardeners are open and free to the public, residents enjoyed the walk round, looking at all the different flowers! It was absolutely beautiful and there was a lovely stream which residents found so calming.

Trip out to hailing Island for fish and chips and enjoying an ice cream lots of laughter today. We also had a bit of training for the dog Betsy, there were lots of cuddles! We enjoyed some fish and chips and a pint down British Legion.

Residents recently enjoyed a lovely trip out to the Aviation museum. The planes and specially the spitfire And the Rolls-Royce engines were a big hit! We loved walking around looking at all the medals and the uniforms. We've also recently enjoyed a walk round and a cream tea at Haskins Garden Centre, we really liked the little tortoises and enjoyed the pets and fish. Lots of smiles and laughter!
The Sun came out for us on a trip out to Horton Park. We enjyed a walk round and a cup of tea and a biscuit.
Elizabeth House celebrated Valentine's Day with a a nice hot tea and chocolate! Ronnie got a lovely Bouquet of flowers this morning from family, and we enjoyed a relaxing jigsaw puzzle.
Residents of Elizabeth House enjoyed a trip out to the Chichester museum, we enjoyed exploring all the artifacts. We finished our fun day out with a fish and chips overlooking the harbour before popping into the garden centre on the way home for a nice cup of cream tea.

Elizabeth House enjoyed a sing and dance with Tina sings. Lots of residents pretended to play the guitar, everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
We had a lovely visit from Teddy the dog recently, all of the residents love him. We have also enjoyed some games on the magic table.

Men’s club enjoyed a trip out to the boat Caffe for a hot drink and then on to the British Legion with some of them enjoy the game of pool.
Residents enjoyed a cuddle from Betsy the puppy after we had a trip out to keydells garden centre. We enjoyed a little walk around and tea and cake at the café.

Residents at Elizabeth House have been busy recently. We have enjoyed a festive tea & cake and sing along at the Teapot Cafe at St Ninians Church Pagham. We have also enjoyed Christmas carols at Coffee Plus coffee morning at Shore Church & a trip out in the mini bus. We got into the festive spirit on Highgrove & Sandringham unit and James & Westminster unit enjoyed dancing & singing before a festive buffet lunch.
Elizabeth House residents have taken part in a lot of fun things recently. We enjoyed some nice and relaxing Christmas carols by the Salvation Army, Elvis and Jodie, (Just Add Sparkle) also came to entertain us with a song and a dance. We finished off our activities with something festive; our Christmas party! Everybody had so much fun.
Residents at Elizabeth House have enjoyed several festive day trips recently. We had a trip out to The tea pot cafe for the Christmas celebrations, where we really enjoyed the singing! We also had a lovely trip out to Haskins Garden Centre for a cream tea and packed lunch, looking at all the lovely decorated Christmas trees; residents loved the model Village. Finally we have enjoyed singing Christmas carols at coffee plus with tea and cake, then along to the Regis for lunch which overlooks the sea. We finished this day by taking a drive around Goodwood in the countryside, the trip was enjoyed by all the residents who were also pointing out the houses that they used to live in.

Residents from Elizabeth House enjoyed a trip down memory lane. As they travelled in the mini bus they shared stories as they reminisced about living, growing up & family working around Earnley, The Witterings, Dell Quay, Singleton & Goodwood trundle.
Today we received a kind donation of 3 china dolls that will be displayed on one of the units for the residents to reminisce.
Residents at Elizabeth House have gotten into the Christmas spirit recently. Margaret & Tonkey enjoyed making mince pies whilst reminiscing over past Christmas & sharing their memories. Residents also enjoyed singing Christmas carols as Barbara played the piano.
Residents had a lovely time out to the theatre, we had a lovely singalong and everyone really enjoyed themselves.
Residents at Elizabeth House have been Pumpkin flower arranging, they have also been painting some lovely designs with the pumpkins. Everybody enjoyed themselves!
Elvis, a great entertainer engaging with all the residents at Elizabath House. They love his music and all had a sing and a dance, good times and some giggles had by all.
Three lovely ladies from Elizabeth House Bognor Regis enjoyed tea & cake out to mark being Centenarians. Lyn who is 100 & loves talking about growing up at Goodwood, Margaret who is 102 & loves to talk about her family & Tonkey who is 105 & loves adventure.
We took a trip out to Staunton country park the residents loved the animals who were so friendly and gentle. Tonky and Trish wanted to go on the swing and they loved it! What an amazing day.
Huge thank you Katie from Elizabeth House for her dedication to the service in her role of domestic assistant, taking great care in looking after the service users rooms and making beds. Katie also works in the laundry and stepped up and lead the way since the introduction of the laundry service.

Meet Elizabeth House’s very own hairdresser, Chris Cobden, who visits the home twice a week to cut the residents hair.
Elizabeth House are establishing intergenerational links with the infants at Bognor Regis Nursery School.
Staff at Elizabeth House, in Bognor Regis, took part in the Nutrition Resources in Care Homes (NRICH) programme, a method of ensuring that care home residents are supported to maintain a healthy diet. Run by Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the programme also teaches staff to identify and tackle malnutrition.
