Lancum House

Cultural diversity is important to us and was highlighted today at Lancum House when we celebrated Diwali, the Hindu festival of light.

The residents enjoyed a demonstration of how a sari is worn, some Bollywood dancing which they joined in with, Indian snacks, a film clip, beautiful music and a talk about the Diwali festival.

This multi sensory activity was supported by one of the resident's daughters, who kindly provided the snacks, saris and bindis. 

It was a "spooktacular" Halloween day at Lancum house today! Many residents joined staff in fancy dress. Some attended Dementia Sings Out choir in their costumes and enjoyed singing, dancing and listening to some African drumming too.

Our Halloween treat raffle was drawn at lunchtime and tasty treats were distributed to the lucky winners.

After lunch, another party was kick started by Dean Jones and there was further singing and dancing! 

Lastly there was a Halloween street party to round off what has been a fabulous day. 

We love it at Lancum House when families join our activities. This week the bingo and cake and cookie decorating was well supported. Other activities included Wear it Pink fundraiser for Breast Cancer Research, making Diwali bangles and painting the Diya pots (made last week), Halloween wordsearches and our regular visit to Dementia Sings Out choir. Another busy week!

Some recent events that Lancum House residents have enjoyed include a shopping experience with Countdown Clothes, their weekly trip to Dementia Sings Out choir, G Fitness, Bingo and Famileo Gazette sharing.  

Residents have also been preparing for Halloween by making bunting and Diwali, making clay pots for candles (diyas) also activities for Black History Month and more bingo which is always a firm favourite!

Last week at Lancum House the residents enjoyed a piano performance from Bruno, Autumn bunting making, Dementia Sings Out choir, a visit from Lucia's Tiny Farm and several games of bingo.

Two lucky residents who had particular interests in fire engines paid a visit to the local Fire Station on their open day.

To round off the week residents enjoyed doodling as it was National Doodling day and a bit of chocolate tasting for International Chocolate Day! 

At Lancum House this week residents enjoyed entertainment from Neil Richardson, family news in their gazettes, attending Dementia Sings Out choir', a Church service, Holy Communion, a trip to town and the coffee shop, and lots of cake as we held a cake raffle (won by Mani) and it was also Buzz's birthday!

This week at Lancum House saw the residents enjoying a variety of activities again. These included water colour painting and armchair travel to Spain, in the lead up to National Beach day. It was mocktails all round and we enjoyed a good old sing a long to various summertime songs including "Oh we do like to be beside the seaside!"

We had more fun with balloon tennis, 10 pin bowling, bingo and appointments at the Salon.

Doggie friends called Ian and Sugar Plum visited us too.

This week's activities at Lancum House included Gazette sharing, sewing, bunting making, pot and mug painting, a visit from Lucia's Tiny Farm and the ice cream van too!

This week at Lancum house the residents have enjoyed G Fitness, sharing their famileo gazettes, a trip to the Salon, ice lollies, attending Dementia Sings Out choir, watching the Olympics and making the Olympic rings and varnishing the new raised flower bed. 

It was our Summer Fayre at Lancum House on Saturday and what a great time we had! The sun was shining, we had entertainment from Jenny Simmonds and Dean Jones. Everyone was singing and dancing in the garden. There were homemade cakes, ice creams and various stalls. Many family members and friends came to join us which made it even more special.

Our theme this week at Lancum House has been all about the moon landing which was 55 years ago.

The residents painted a large paper mache moon and rocket, some astronauts and made rock cakes too. We had a quiz afternoon, watched the moon landing video, completed word searches and residents shared their own memories. 

Other activities this week included pebble painting (which we will be selling at our Summer Fair on Saturday) and paint stamping our new raised bed which was recently and very kindly donated for all of our residents to use and appreciate.

Last Thursday Yvonne from the local church came to conduct a service for us which focused on our Shaw values of happiness, kindness and wellness. This was followed by holy communion and then Yvonne joined us for the bingo too!

We attended the Dementia Sings Out 5th birthday celebrations today with residents and family members. The Wellingborough Gospel Choir sang and there was a lot of dancing and singing along the whole morning. It was a really uplifting experience. 

Another fun afternoon full of singing and dancing at Lancum House on Wednesday when Ian Kirby came to entertain. Look out for the lovely hairstyles too of the residents who popped into the Salon for a pamper. 

Just look at how the garden is blooming, we have everything from giant sunflowers, which were set from seed by the residents, to tomatoes and strawberry plants. We definitely have some green fingers here! 

Lancum House residents received a donation of strawberry plants to add to our garden  collection. These were planted straight away by Ian who was also showing how tall our sunflowers are getting! 

Independence Day was celebrated by Armchair travel to Las Vegas and a Frank Sinatra tribute act which was enjoyed  by all. World Chocolate Day was also on our agenda when four different types of chocolate were sampled including some American chocolate. The peanut butter one was the favourite! 

Lastly a very successful Savoury raffle was held and winning tickets were drawn on Friday. Prizes included homemade quiche, cheese scones and pork pie! 

We have been doing alot of Armchair travel to the countries playing in Euros. This time it was Italy which included some refreshing lemon and orange drinks. We also celebrated several birthdays in June, attended the weekly Dementia Sings Out choir, had a Church service and played many games of bingo!

It was a very special day today at Lancum House. Our lovely Margaret celebrated her 104th birthday!

There was entertainment from Dean Jones which really got the party started, and then a delicious buffet and cake shared with family and friends.

What a great evening at the local pub last night for some residents of Lancum House and their families.  All enjoyed refreshments and a quiz. 

There was a range of activities at Lancum House last week. This included G Fitness with Tom, water colour painting for World Oceans day, bingo, and setting more bedding plants out in our lovely garden.

On the 6th June the 80th Anniversary of Dday, residents from Lancum House attended Dementia Sings Out choir where there was plenty of dancing and singing as always! This including a beautiful speech by one of the members who was an ex service man and proudly wearing his medals. Afterwards we all joined in with a rendition of "We'll Meet Again" 

In the afternoon we had a lovely church service led by Yvonne. Later on, more war time songs were sang by the residents as we thought of those who gave their lives in the war. 

Another busy week at Lancum house!  The residents enjoyed entertainment from Ian Kirby and planted lots of bedding plants kindly donated by a family member and Morrisons. The garden is going to be so colourful! 

So much going on at Lancum House recently.  The residents have enjoyed regular famileo Gazette sharing, decorating pebbles for World Bee Day together with making bug houses. We have also taken part in Dementia Sings Out choir which we go to every Thursday, making peppermint creams and other nostalgic activities for Dementia Awareness weeks and a delicious cake raffle!

A great time was had by all when Lancum House residents visited the local museum. 

Lancum House residents had a great time last Friday when Jenny Simmonds came to entertain us!

Easter activities at Lancum House included egg painting, cake making, salt dough decorations and a lovely Easter day roast lunch. The Easter bunny hopped by too and all residents received a bunny treat bag! 

A trip to the museum for some residents of Lancum House today. Everyone was interested in the local history and artifacts from the past. One resident said, as she remembered ration books and coupons, "it really opens up your brain!" How lovely!

In preparation for St Patrick's Day on Sunday we enjoyed armchair travel to Ireland, sampled Guinness, shared some fun facts and watched some Irish dancing. This was rounded off by a rendition of "Danny Boy" Earlier on in the week some residents completed some art and craft to make a wonderful display. 

As part of the Nutrition and Hydration week residents celebrated Fruity Friday! There was a range of fresh fruits for everyone to sample and a banana or peach smoothie too.

All of our lovely ladies were included and received a bunch of daffodils (courtesy of Chambers and Brighty) entertainment provided by Dean Jones and two gifts each during afternoon tea which included scones with jam and cream. 

On International Women's Day we were flower arranging at Lancum House and listening to music by some of our favourite female singers.

The home is ready for Mothering Sunday too with so many beautiful floral displays around. 

We had a fantastic multi sensory activity recently, residents were invited to take a "walk" down memory lane. Firstly they sampled bread and dripping, snowballs and Frys chocolate cream which they all enjoyed. There were various goods to smell and they had to try to identify goods such as Camp chicory coffee, Worcester sauce, Pears soap and Germaline.

Various items from the past to name and say what they were used for included dressing table sets, sewing accessories and a wooden "mushroom" generated much conversation too. 

Some residents were also involved in a walk around the pocket park too.

Such a fun trip down memory lane!

This morning residents watched film clips about Wales, listened to traditional folk music and learned some fun facts whilst colouring Welsh flags. They also sampled home made Bara brith and were looking forward to leek and potato soup and Welsh rarebit at tea time. Their lovely display included daffodils made earlier in the week. 

A spot of painting was enjoyed by some residents at Lancum House last weekend. They were very happy with their achievements.

Last week at Lancum House residents had a fun filled time taking part in bingo, baking, a church service followed by communion and visiting the Dementia Sings out choir.

Valentines day at Lancum House involved Gazette sharing with messages from loved ones and everyone receiving a treat bag. Residents and staff were also asked to write the name of someone they love on a heart and these were hung from our Valentine tree. 

Lucia and her Tiny Farm brought so much joy to the residents of Lancum House earlier this week. 

Residents at Lancum House have enjoyed a variety of activities this week including balloon tennis, making bird feeders, Dementia Sings Out choir, a church service and making shortbread. As part of our Burn's night celebrations, we had armchair travel to Scotland with Iron Bru and Haggis too. 

Over the past week at Lancum house the residents have been enjoying entertainment from Steve O, 10 pin bowling, making different flavoured cup cakes and designing their own tartan in preparation for Burn's night.  

Last week was another busy one for residents at Lancum House with activities including Dementia Sings Out,  G Fitness,  pom pom making and our regular famileo Gazette sharing. The residents are always so happy to receive them!

We're bringing in the New Year early at Lancum House with sparkling firework pictures, new year quiz and trivia, personalising calendars and a party where Ian Kirby came to entertain.  There was much singing, dancing and laughter flowed by shandies, soft drinks and snacks. Another great party for our lovely residents. 

Christmas day at Lancum House. Santa delivered some special gifts to our residents and then they enjoyed a lovely Christmas lunch together.

I don't know how we fit it all in but here are more festive activities that the residents have enjoyed at Lancum House. Wreath making, personalising baubles and baking Christmas Crinkle Cookies! Well done to all!

More festive fun at Lancum House recently. Residents enjoyed a visit from a local school, the children sang Christmas songs and helped the residents to make Christmas cards. 

We also had our Carol service which was provided  by representatives from a local church and family members attended too. Afterwards hot chocolate and mince pies were enjoyed. We then welcomed ladies from the Inner Wheel of Hatton Wellingborough who came with gifts for the residents and stayed to chat. 

Two parties in one day? Yes please! Residents at Lancum house enjoyed the first one at the Dementia Sings Out choir in the morning and then after lunch more singing and dancing plus pass the parcel when Jenny Simmonds came to entertain us.

Residents enjoyed mince pie and hot chocolate taste testing, dancing and singing along to Christmas songs with Steve O! We made Christmas cards for family members and nostalgic paper chains. There were just some of the activities enjoyed recently by residents of Lancum House! 

More festive fun at Lancum House last week. Residents enjoyed gingerbread making, a Christmas sing a long with Steve O, hot chocolate and mine pie taste testing and our usual visit to Dementia Sings Out choir where we also celebrated Ann's birthday! 

Christmas preparations at Lancum House are in full swing! Recent activities involved a shopping trip, decorating fir cones, making salt dough tree ornaments and putting up the Christmas trees.

Last Saturday it was time for the Winter Market at Lancum House. It was very well attended with many family members (and their dogs!) joining us for the afternoon. A great time was had by all.Thank you to everyone who supported us.

Residents have been thinking about the pets they used to own. Memories were triggered by using pet photos to make a collage. It was interesting for staff to learn details about their pets. Residents also enjoyed their visit to Dementia Sings Out choir on Thursday. It's always such a wonderfully uplifting morning for all! On Friday we celebrated Children in Need day by painting and displaying Pudsey Bear pictures and holding a quiz all about bears! Staff were kindly fundraising for the charity too.

On Friday afternoon we had entertainment from Dean Jones and everyone had a great time singing and dancing. 

More fun times at Lancum House this week when Ian Kirby came to entertain us. Everyone was singing and dancing and had a fantastic afternoon. 

Yesterday we finished the week off energetically with G Fitness led by Tom. 

At Lancum House earlier in the week, we had prepared some Rangoli art work for our Diwali celebrations. Yesterday we visited Dementia Sings Out choir in the morning where we were entertained by Saryu Thakra, a Bollywood saxophonist and in the afternoon we had a talk from Mina about Diwali and how it is celebrated. 

This was accompanied by more Bollywood music and dancing, Indian savoury snacks, and a demonstration of how to wear a sari. The residents were joined by family members and staff too. Everyone had a great day celebrating cultural diversity.  

We recently had a visit from a local nursery here at Lancum House. The children joined us for craft, threading and singing. The residents absolutely loved the children's visit.

More singing and dancing at Lancum house this week to celebrate the life of a dear resident who sadly passed recently. 

Other activities included Remembrance Day crafts, bingo, Gazette sharing and Holy Communion for some. It's been another busy week!

A spooktacular Halloween day at Lancum House full of activities including art and craft, dressing up, cake decorating, paper chain making, singing, dancing and karaoke. Later on we enjoyed a Halloween tea party and trick or treat bags, a fabulous day!

Jackie our Activities Champion at Lancum House in Wellingborough has been awarded for her hard work in getting Lancum House the Best Overall care home in the UK with Famileo. Famileo is an App which produces personalised Gazettes keeping loved ones up to date on what their families have been up to.

 

Jackie was surprised with a party including a buffet and prosecco and Kelly from Familieo presented the award.

Thursday morning usually means a trip to Dementia Sings Out choir. This week there was no meeting scheduled so at Lancum House we decided to have our very own music morning, singing and dancing to all the songs that we'd normally hear at the choir. Everyone had a great time!

Entertainment from Ian Kirby was a great hit at Lancum House earlier this week. 

Lancum House residents attended G Fitness with Tom and everyone completed the armchair workout. Well done! 

The joy that Dementia Sings Out choir brings every week is so wonderful to see. Residents from Lancum House love their weekly visits. Another busy morning was spent making cupcakes for tea. 

Residents at Lancum House were busy making scarecrows in preparation for our Harvest celebrations which included a lovely Harvest Church service followed by Holy Communion for some.

Avice from Lancum House celebrated her 104th birthday recently. She enjoyed a visit from several members of her family, entertainment from Steve O and a wonderful tea party. Avice said she'd had a wonderful time. The Mayor of Wellingborough visited Avice to congratulate her too. 

It was party time when Neil Richardson came to entertain at Lancum House. It was also Buzz's birthday, so definitely time to celebrate! 

It was also our first meet at Dementia Sings Out choir after the summer break. Residents enjoyed a fabulous morning of singing, dancing, chatting and cake!

A busy day at Lancum House! Residents made jam tarts and then enjoyed some paper weaving.

A great afternoon of song, dance and reminiscing when Kyle Newman visited us at Lancum House recently. 

Such a great morning at Lancum House today... with the help of Mani's daughter we had armchair travel to Kenya. Mani was born in Kenya so it was really interesting to explore her homeland and its cultural diversity. We enjoyed a film, Kenyan snacks, music and artifacts too.

The pleasure that comes from sharing the Famileo gazettes at Lancum House is wonderful to witness. 

Some residents enjoyed the baking activity when they made delicious date and walnut loaves.

A recent shopping experience for some residents of Lancum House including much needed refreshments at a coffee shop afterwards!  

What a fabulous afternoon at Lancum House today, residents, families, and the team enjoyed entertainment from Dean Jones and many danced and sang along too. There were several stalls to browse including delicious cakes, a grand raffle and tombola too. 

It was another fantastic morning at Dementia Sings Out yesterday. So much singing, dancing and laughter. It was wonderful to see our residents from Lancum House having such a great time.

Today was Alan Dixey’s last day before retirement from Lancum House.

He’s been the maintenance person at Lancum House since March 2013, recognised for his 10 years long service earlier this year, and is retiring to Yorkshire.

Although he asked the staff not to make a fuss, we couldn’t help ourselves. Alysha and the team rallied together to give Alan a small send off. Knowing his love of walking, he received an inflatable walking frame to help him get around the National Trust sites which the staff have paid for a year’s membership for both him and his wife.

He’s been a real asset to Lancum House in his time, and will be truly missed.

It was party time today when Jenny Simmonds came to entertain at Lancum House. Jenny got everybody up singing and dancing, a great time was had by all!

A busy Friday at Lancum House! Cheese biscuits were made and sampled, they were delicious! Music and the magic table were enjoyed in the afternoon. 

A visit to Dementia Sings Out choir this morning and several games of bingo this afternoon for residents at Lancum House. 

Residents at Lancum House had a great morning taste testing different teas including fruit, Chai and Earl Grey. They rated the teas and Earl Grey came out top closely followed by Chai. They also sampled different biscuits and enjoyed a biscuut quiz too!

Bingo is always a favourite at Lancum House but just look at some of the resident's faces as they enjoy the Fluid app on our new Magic Table! Some thought that it was indeed magic!

It was a glorious day for our Dog Show yesterday at Lancum House. Residents were joined by family members and their dogs. There were rosettes and treats for all the competitors.

The judging was very difficult as they were all so lovely. It was very close but the winner was Nala the one year old German Shepherd.

Residents of Lancum house enjoyed a Church service on Thursday afternoon and baking chocolate banana cake on Friday followed by exercise with G Fitness. Of course we had to sample the cake after all that exercise!

It was time for our regular weekly outing to Dementia Sings Out choir this morning. Residents from Lancum House had a very enjoyable,  musical morning!

Celebrations today at Lancum House in Wellingborough. 15 years with Shaw healthcare. Alysha and the team celebrated in style with CFO Gareth Morgan.

Along with the anniversary we also celebrated some long serving staff and service champions!

We also enjoyed watercolour painting to make a Summer display and bingo with some year 6 students from a local school.

Some residents from Lancum House enjoyed an early evening trip to the pub with some staff and family members. Alongside their favourite beverage they enjoyed a buffet and a good natter! 

It was all about the garden this morning at Lancum house. Our green fingered residents weeded the raised bed and planted herbs. They all enjoyed smelling them and trying to guess the names.

After a fun morning of bingo residents at Lancum house love to receive their Famileo Gazettes with photos and news from their families and friends.  It always brings a smile to their faces!

The new Magic Table had it's debut at Lancum House today. Residents enjoyed playing Spot the difference,  jigsaw puzzles and Connect 4!

There was much singing and dancing at Dementia Sings Out choir this week whilst some residents at Lancum house made chocolate cookies.

It was "Happy Birthday" to Margaret from Lancum house where she recently celebrated her 103rd birthday.  Congratulations Margaret! 

Residents and staff enjoyed fun in the sun when they played bingo and 10 pin bowling in the garden. 

It was also a very busy Thursday at Lancum house with a trip to the Dementia Sings Out choir in the morning and a lovely church service in the garden in the afternoon.

What a fantastic time residents at Lancum house had when they were visited by two miniature donkeys, Tulula and Freya, this week. 

Everyone enjoyed a great game of Ten Pin Bowling out in the sunshine

Baking was the name of the game at Lancum house when residents were joined by some little helpers. They made a delicious marble cake!

Lancum house in Wellingborough now have 100% of families registered with Famileo making them the best Famileo home in the UK and Ireland!

In recognition of The Chelsea Flower show, residents at Lancum house have been very busy painting flowers for a beautiful displaying whilst watching some of the show on TV. We also set sunflower and hollyhock seeds for the garden. Just look at the great sunflower decorations that were made too.

Lancum House residents, family members, friends and staff just love their music. We all enjoyed a trip to Dementia Sings Out choir and after lunch, a church service with well known hymns too.

A visit to the local pub was enjoyed by some residents from Lancum house and their family members. A great time was had by all!

Residents at Lancum house had a great afternoon with some year 6 students from Park Junior school. They worked together to make crowns ready for our Coronation celebrations. It was a very Happy birthday for Ivy from Lancum House who celebrated being 90 years young with family and friends. Singing and dancing at Dementia Sings Out choir followed by G Fitness with Tom. A busy day for residents at Lancum House!

It was baking time at Lancum house when residents made traditional bread and butter puddings for their lunch. We also had visitors from the local church who provided a lovely service for us and stayed for cup of tea and a chat afterwards.  

It was party time again at Lancum house when Steve O came to sing to us...with a guest appearance from Gary!

Residents at Lancum house were preparing for St George's day this morning by making "shield" bunting. We also had a discussion about all things typically English and decided to make bread and butter pudding later on in the week.  Residents enjoyed watching some Morris dancing and May pole dancing too.

It was party time when Jenny came to entertain, residents also made Easter bonnets and cards, we held our Easter raffle and on Sunday all enjoyed a delicious roast lunch and received Easter gifts too.

A day full of singing and dancing for the residents of Lancum House. It was Dementia Sings Out choir in the morning and entertainment from Kyle in the afternoon. Starting the day with some baking, residents made Easter biscuits and enjoyed them after exercises with Tom from G Fitness.

At Lancum House residents were off to Italy when they had an Armchair travel activity. They completed a quiz, watched a film about Rome, listened and sang along to some well known Italian songs and sampled traditional Polenta cake.

Games morning at Lancum House was enjoyed by many residents today.

Marion enjoyed the Spring weather and did a spot of gardening.

Happy St Patrick's Day from Lancum house! Residents have been making traditional Irish soda bread today. 

Mother's day celebrations for our lovely ladies at Lancum house yesterday. All enjoyed a gift, flowers and afternoon tea with some family members too.

It was a Snow day for residents at Lancum House today! Residents made their own snowmen and some enjoyed watching the snowfall from the window. A family member made a trio of snowmen in the garden and we watched The Snowman film whilst enjoying hot drinks. Later on it was bingo time!

A busy Tuesday at Lancum House this week with pamper sessions, colouring, puzzles, armchair exercise, singing and dancing!

Sewing club at Lancum House and Ann has a makeover! The activity generated a lot of chat about how people used to make their own clothes. It reminded one resident of how she made her own wedding dress and she was happy to share this with the group.

What a fabulous day for Lancum house residents today! Dancing and singing at Dementia Sings Out this morning and a church service followed by bingo this afternoon.

Valentines day at Lancum House involved messages of love for families, baking heart shaped biscuits and a craft activity to make a beautiful display. And a spot of dancing too!

A visit to Dementia Sings Out choir,  a shopping trip and chance meeting with some beautiful horses called Marco and Duke.

Another busy week at Lancum House! Residents were dancing and singing at Dementia Sings Out choir, baking rock cakes, had a visit from a nine week old puppy and attended a G Fitness session with Tom.

Dignity Action Day was celebrated at Lancum house today. Residents enjoyed a coffee and craft morning, manicure and hand massage and a "Digni-tea" afternoon tea!

Geoff and Maureen celebrated their birthdays last week at Lancum House and some residents went to Dementia Sings Out choir and had fun singing and dancing! 

A busy time for residents of Lancum house when they were delighted to have another visit from the delightful Phoebe and her owner Jan. Followed by a church service provided by St Barnabas Church representatives Yvonne and Diana. 

A trip to the local pub for some residents, staff and family members.

Residents at Lancum house enjoyed craft, shortbread making, haggis sampling and film clips of Highland dance to celebrate Burns Night.

More Chinese New year celebrations at Lancum House. Armchair travel to China, Chinese food tasting and Chinese New year bingo. Residents have been busy!

So lovely for our CEO Russell to be able to present family member Tracie Macdonald with her gift following her recent recognition at the National Star awards. Tracie has been a wonderful support in fundraising for our Magic table which we hope to purchase this year, thank you and congratulations Tracie.

Residents of Lancum house were busy with baking apple cinnamon cake for tea followed by armchair exercise in the afternoon, everybody had a lovely day.

Lancum House residents were using stencils to create snowflake pictures today. Some remembered cutting shapes out of a circle of paper which was folded to create a snowflake, so we had a go at that too!

New Year's eve and the employees and residents of Lancum House enjoying Aulde Lang Syne together. On New year's day, everyone enjoyed lunch together and we recently enjoyed some baking fun. Chocolate and cherry and vanilla cup cakes for tea. Don't mind if I do!

The residents at Lancum House have been involved in lots of activities to celebrate the New Year including art, singing and dancing when Ian entertained and watching firework displays.

Not to mention having a wee dram!

Christmas day at Lancum House. Such a good time was had by all!

So many Christmas songs were sung when Kyle came to entertain yesterday...not to mention the dancing! With thanks to the Inner Wheel Rotary Club of Wellingborough Hatton for visiting us at Lancum house and donating some lovely gifts for the residents. A fabulous turn out for our Carol Service last night led by Claire from the Wellingborough methodist Church. This morning it was Christmas bingo with sweet treats and a glass of fizz! Cheers and Merry Christmas from all at Lancum House!

Birthday celebrations this week at Lancum house!  Happy birthday to Pauline and Maureen! 

Bailey's hot chocolate and mince pies to warm us up at Lancum house. The residents were delighted to receive Christmas cards from a local primary school.

It was party time at Lancum House with pass the parcel, singing and a lovely tea party.

It was the Christmas party at Dementia Sings Out choir this week, some residents from Lancum house attended and a good time was had by all. We also had a fun afternoon when the NHS Team visited and provided lots of festive activities including Play your Cards Right and Lefty Righty! Jenny came to entertain us, and we had a lot of festive fun!

Everyone has been very busy with Christmas bingo and Christmas craft at Lancum house this week.

It was the Christmas fayre at Lancum house last Saturday. A great time was had by all. Thank you to all those who supported this event. 

Ann really enjoyed her birthday outing to the choir last Thursday. She was singing and dancing all morning! Pauline and Maureen enjoyed a shopping trip into town with refreshments afterwards. 

School children from Park Junior visited us at Lancum house recently to sing a medley of Christmas songs. The residents thoroughly enjoyed themselves and sang along too. 

A lovely Carol service from St Barnabas Church for residents of Lancum house and a wonderful sing a long to Christmas songs later on.

It was party time at Lancum house when Steve O came to entertain. We all got into the Christmas spirit and a good old sing a long was enjoyed.

Chocolate tasting from some of the countries in the Football World Cup. Flags were waved at the end of each round to show preferences. The residents at Lancum house really enjoyed this activity! It was followed by a series of puzzles which the residents completed.

Lancum House residents were painting paper cups today to make a festive wreath. Afterwards some had a go at making paper chains to decorate the home with, everyone had so much fun.

Residents at Lancum house made Welsh cakes last week, they were delicious!

What a treat! This afternoon Lancum house residents had a visit from Lucia's Tiny farm. Everyone enjoyed handling and feeding the animals.

Lancum House residents have been busy recenty. We had a visit to the local pub, shared our famaily gazettes, hairstyling and singing and dancing with the Wellingborough Community choir. We have been busy! #dementiasingsout

It's all about the Football World Cup at Lancum House! Residents have been enjoying the games on TV and today were painting some of the flags to make bunting. ⚽️

Another busy day at Lancum house today. Jess and Pauline made the fruit sponge for lunch, George made a Victoria sandwich for a birthday celebration and there was a very musical afternoon when several residents enjoyed a song and dance.

Lancum House’ Administrator, Julie Dooley, has been presented with the ‘Administrator of the Year Award’ – sponsored by the Shaw Foundation - at Shaw healthcare’s annual Shaw Star Awards.

On Thursday 26th September Lancum House joined the celebration with the nation to celebrate BBC World Music day.

Lancum House are actively getting involved with singing for dementia.  

A care home in Wellingborough have welcomed volunteers to help with their garden as part of a community initiative from Nationwide.
